By the age of 10, Pablo Picasso had already painted Le Picador. And though it's unlikely that the so-called Mini-Masters at these museum workshops will produce anything of that caliber, even child prodigies have to start somewhere. For inspiration, sessions start off with a recap of the selected artist's life and career. Next comes a hands-on creative process that results in a take-home piece that should earn a place grander than the refrigerator. Past workshops have encouraged mini-Matisses, mini-Frankenthalers, and, yes, mini-Picassos. (For that one, kids cut out a picture of an eye and then created their masterpieces around it.)
