A Bottle in the Gaza Sea (Une bouteille a la mer)
(No longer in theaters)
Miléna Poylo, Gilles Sacuto
Jan 4, 2013
An Israeli girl and a young Palestinian man connect via a message placed in the titular narrative device, which should tell you in advance that this is hardly a realistic examination of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Rather, it’s a more fablelike treatment of the burgeoning understanding and affection between these two young people—and it might have worked, had the film chosen to temper its own schmaltziness.
