Review

Visually, this French animated film (which was nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar) is absolutely gorgeous, all Expressionist angles and noirish attitude. Story-wise, however, it’s a bit of a mess—a touching tale of a cat and its sad child owner that turns into a belabored and too-cute gangster thriller.
