Review

This energetic look at Afghanistan’s American Idol–like reality show is both an unapologetic wallow in pop culture and a poignant look at a nation where singing was recently banned under the Taliban. One could quibble with its refusal to dwell more on its social themes, but it’s hard not to be entertained.
