Review

In the blood-soaked 2000 original, two Irish brothers took it upon themselves to rid Boston of the mob. Though little-seen at the time, it’s become enough of a cult item that now the brothers are back, in an unlikely sequel that promises to up the violence even more.

Bad Reputation

For all its stylistic Sturm und Drang, the first Boondock Saints was notorious more for the backstory of its journey to the screen, as chronicled in the stunning 2004 doc Overnight: Duffy, once hailed as the next Tarantino, petulantly burned all his Hollywood bridges before exposing so much as a foot of film.
