Vallée tells a mystically inflected tale that intersects the life of a young mother in the sixties trying to raise a child with Down Syndrome with that of a mother in the present day going through a painful divorce. The connections may be manipulative, but they’re also ingenious and heartbreaking; this film might wipe you out.
