The true story of three Jewish brothers (Liev Schreiber, Daniel Craig, and Jaime Bell) who escaped the Nazis following the German invasion of Poland and formed an effective partisan resistance is the kind of fact-based account bound to make Hollywood’s knees go wobbly, and with good reason: It’s part action movie, part history lesson, and part empowerment drama. Occasionally schmaltzy, to be sure, but Schreiber makes a surprisingly awesome Rambo stand-in.
