Review

Despite its now-iconic status, the 1977 feature (now restored) that put David Lynch on the map has lost none of its ability to shock, disturb, or puzzle. If anything, this angry, zonked-out story of a man at odds with his super-industrial environment is even more startling today, thanks to its refusal to indulge in pat resolutions and an elliptical narrative that makes most of today's arthouse movies look like Our Gang episodes.
