Review
Jim Carrey, ecstatically wacky in the How the Grinch Stole Christmas, joins all-star-silly cast of voices—Steve Carell, Carol Burnett, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, and Isla Fisher—in another Suess classic, this one done in CGI. Carrey’s lovable, bleeding-heart elephant Horton wants to save microscopic Whoville from demise. When the Mayor (Carell) asks “Is this Burt from accounting?,” it might occur to a parent that Suess would never have written such dialogue. But then a tiny Who shoots himself out of a slingshot, into space, and back down onto his meandering Suessian staircase, and the modern trickery feels distinctly Doctor S.
