This atmospheric documentary about the life and art of troubled Seattle poet Steven J. Bernstein may not immediately entice given its semi-obscure subject matter—though he’s honored as a forerunner of grunge, Bernstein isn’t exactly a household name—but it’s a mesmerizing work, mixing the late poet’s reedy voice with interviews with friends and associates. Manages to convey the city that claims Bernstein as its own.
