The story of the controversial, charismatic, prolific, and highly influential former Black Panther—currently serving life in prison for the 1981 murder of a Philadelphia police officer— and his passionate supporters never really gets a solid grasp of its material. The result is a hagiography that crams in as many political issues and causes as possible, depriving viewers of the chance to put together any semblance of a narrative.
