Mark Palansky’s Edward Scissorhands–ish fable casts Christina Ricci as a pig-nosed girl with image issues—and James McAvoy as the only suitor who doesn’t run squealing. They’re weirdly charming together, though the script strikes a few major off-key notes—including Reese Witherspoon’s unconvincing turn as a leather-clad biker chick. — Logan Hill
