Oddly mesmerizing yet almost deliberately incomplete, Alejandro Landes’s look at the increasingly frustrating existence of a man paralyzed after a police mistake, who took matters into his own hands in real life, seems austere. But it’s surprisingly confrontational on a stylistic level: It’s a slow-burn movie in which the mundane and often grotesque daily life of the protagonist makes palpable the need for escape and action.
