Release Notes

You're either daunted or intrigued by the idea of taking your Pixar-weaned child to see 75 minutes of fifties French cinema, but we assure you that this double feature offers plenty of easy pleasures. White Mane is a tried-and-true tale of a special bond between a boy and a wild horse, but The Red Balloon is a stronger attraction: With almost no dialogue, this masterpiece about a young boy’s adventures following a balloon with a mind of its own is perfectly engaging in its bittersweet simplicity—and it features an spectacular ending the likes of which you'd be hard-pressed to find in most adult cinema from this year.
