Mark D. Obenhaus’s gorgeous documentary explores the world of extreme wilderness skiing by delving into the origins of the sport and following up with some of its biggest (and, one might argue, most suicidal) proponents in the modern age, such as Doug Coombs and Seth Morrison. The majestic mountain ranges and untouched, whitewashed peaks are undeniably breathtaking, but it’s hard to buy into the significance the thrill junkies give to a pastime that, while dangerous and endorphin-releasing and righteously cool, is really just another sport.
