Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars in this intermittently engaging, thirties-set drama, based on the true story of an inexperienced British journalist but found himself the caretaker of a sad band of neglected war orphans while working undercover in Nanjing. Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun-Fat, and Radha Mitchell round out the cast, but the story never comes to life.
