Review

The Counterfeiters, the foreign-language Oscar-winner from Austria, tells the story of a Jewish criminal imprisoned by the Nazis and put to work minting fake money to support the German war effort. Will he collaborate, or will he work to undermine the project that is keeping him alive? The story is arresting, and all the more visceral for being based on a horrific true story.
