Block, who has made a name for himself documenting the minutiae of his life, puts together footage of his daughter shot over the course of several years to meditate on the separation anxiety that occurs when a child leaves home for college. Predictably, the results are intimate and deeply moving, but Block’s refreshing penchant for self-criticism is also in evidence here, as he calls into question the very nature of his particular brand of cinematic therapy.
