Aron Gaudet’s documentary takes an unorthodox and potentially loaded subject—three senior-citizen troop greeters who shake the hands of American soldiers going to and returning from war—and turns it into a portrait of mortality, memory, and loss. A depressing film, no doubt, but also an important one.
