When his parents have to disappear during the political turbulence of 1970, a Brazilian boy gets sent to live in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood and winds up making new friends. What starts off as a humdrum coming-of-age film eventually turns into a touching, surprisingly dark story of loyalty and love.
