Review

Despite impressive, rough turns by Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro, this drama, about a widow (Berry) who invites her husband’s junkie best friend (Del Toro) to live with her following the death of her too-good-to-be-true husband (David Duchovny), is somewhat less than the sum of its parts. Random plot turns mar the movie’s subdued feel, and Danish director Susanne Bier’s super-close-up shots are an unnecessary distraction.
