Review
There are plenty of reasons to revisit True Stories, written and directed by Talking Head David Byrne (pictured) in 1986. There’s Swoosie Kurtz as a woman who refuses to leave her bed; Spalding Gray as a dysfunctional small-town mayor; a young John Goodman making his bid for fame by lip-synching “Wild Wild Life” at a tacky nightclub; and the work of Ed Lachman, whose eye-popping cinematography ties it all together.
