Lincoln Center’s tribute to the great, recently departed Italian scenarist Suso Cecchi d’Amico offers an ideal chance to revisit Visconti’s romantic and melancholy 1957 masterpiece, an adaptation of a Dostoevsky short story about a young man who becomes taken with a despondent, beautiful woman who is awaiting another.
