Zypora Spaisman, a Holocaust survivor and actress who runs America’s oldest Yiddish theater, on the Lower East Side, tries to keep the lights on during one cold Hanukkah in New York, even as her beloved art form seems to have become irrelevant to the culture at large. Intriguing and entertaining despite some rough edges, Dan Katzir’s documentary profits immeasurably from the ancient Spaisman’s genuine charisma.
