Young, hip, androgynous lesbians put their stamp on this weekly get-together from the moment the Metropolitan opened its dingy doors. If you get the impression everyone knows each other, you’re right. The cute, boyish girls are close-knit, clique-ish, even share a unified look of black hair, neck bandanas, arty tatts, and bike chains slung around the hips. Can’t talk about your MFA, barista job, or your fixed gear? Turn to the dollar PBRs and dance to some indie rock. No matter the weather, smokers and cruisers retreat to the overgrown backyard where there’s actually enough light out to scope out your fellow cuties.
