It's safe to assume that “breastfeeder” translates directly from French to English without any loss of meaning. And these stylish musicians play the kind of wink-wink garage punk that you'd expect with a name like that. Their 2006 album, Les Matins de Grands Soirs, explodes with retro-Kinks rock and roll: jangly melodies, screaming guitars, and snarly vocals, too. The album has one softish single, the synthy track “Funny Funiculaire,” which bounds along to guitarist Suzie McLelove's sighed vocals. But most of the time they're sassy, impeccably well-dressed, and impossible to understand. This concert is part of the 2007 CMJ Music Marathon.
