Profile
Summer's best rave-style revelry is back, and expect the air around Ely Avenue to once again be filled with the sounds of synthesizers and drum and bass as Saturday crowds gather in Long Island City for a double dose of art and world-class electronica. This year features a working urban farm as the courtyard installation, complete with a vegetable patch, irrigation system, and a chicken coop. Avenue C's underground music venue Nublu hosts the kickoff party, bringing in their eponymous Orchestra conducted by jazz great Bruce Morris (and featuring D.J.'s and band members from groups like the Brazilian Girls, Wax Poetic, and Love Trio), as well as DJ Dex, a.k.a. Nomadico, a heavy on Detroit's dance scene, and the drum ensemble So Percussion.
