Karaoke is awesome because it’s fun to watch your friends make an ass of themselves. Add to that music made for screaming and a music-appropriate venue hidden in Chinatown with campy girly posters and red leather booths and you’ve got yourself an evening out. The enthusiastic crowd—or “audience”—is varied, everything from stockbrokers to (ahem) journalists, and forgiving. They know everyone at the joint’s just out to find their inner rock star.
