KGB Bar, housed in the former headquarters of a Ukranian socialist party, is a heady drinking foundation with no less than three—count 'em, three—separate weekly reading series. Sandwiched between Sunday’s Fiction and Tuesday’s Non- is Monday’s Poetry with a decade to its credit. It’s a remarkable feat for a boutique discipline. But considering the pedigree—started by David Lehman and Star Black; graced by the likes of John Ashberry, Katha Pollit, and Molly Peacock—the longevity isn't that surprising. Need a preview? Check out The KGB Bar Book of Poems, a 2000 title inspired by the series.
