The cult sandwich shop knows how to hug your heart, which is why their apple cider utilizes the warming effects of bourbon (as per their instructions "the good stuff"), and lots of it. It's cold weather comfort served hot, and spiced up with ginger.

Ingredients

1 gallon apple cider
.5 cup peeled ginger cut into 2 inch
2 tsp kosher salt
4 tablespoon honey
6 imperial apples, peeled cut into cubes
2 ounces bourbon

Instructions

In a large pot, place cider and combine all ingredients except bourbon. Bring to boil for 10 minutes. Let simmer for 20 minutes. Add bourbon and serve hot with apples and a spoon. Makes 1 gallon. (Published 2012)
