Profile

In the past, Agnanti has distinguished itself from the considerable Astoria competition with its impossibly tender grilled octopus, its signature rooster pasta, and the Turkish dishes that Constantinople’s Greek community adopted as its own. A 80-seat Brooklyn branch clones this winning formula, from the mostly Greek wine list and compellingly soggy oat-rusk salad down to the bric-a-brac and pottery that adorn the interior.

My all time favorites from this restaurant are: the salad, grilled octopus, fried calamari and the saganaki. Agnanti serves the best I have tasted in Astoria! I would also recommend the grilled vegetables, the tyrokeftedes and the meatballs in red sauce. Dessert is on the house, they serve greek strained yogurt topped with a sweet dressing (I think it's made of sweetened grapes) and a serving or two of halvadopita. Let's just say you'll surely want to visit this place again...
