If the mortar-and-pestle-surrounded-by-garlic bulbs logo at this instant Willliamsburg hot spot isn't a tip-off that you should have brought Tic Tacs, the amuse-bouche of boiled new potatoes in aioli is. And things only get more pungent from there with tapas like pancetta-wrapped fried dates, and grilled bread topped with Spanish anchovies and carmelized onions. Big plates like baby eels are a splurge on an otherwise modestly-priced menu that pleases as much as the all-Spanish wine list and the ultra-affable bartender.

The atmosphere and wine list are the best thing about Allioli, but quite frankly the service was horrible. The waitress practically ignored us and forgot our request for extra bread completely. Allioli is great if you're just there for an after-work drink, but I would forget about the tapas- they were unmemorable.

absolutely great

Getting there on the early side is a big plus. The service was attentive and the tapas were great. I loved the anchovy and onion tapas and the chorizo and the Galician pie of the day.The codfish croquettes were also a great choice. The place is pretty and very understated which is just fine.
