Amici Amore 1 could easily suffer from culture clash: a Northern Italian restaurant owned by two Montenegrin brothers, smack in the middle of Greek-dominated Astoria. But Dino and Gianni Redzic have successfully integrated authentic family recipes with the old-world cuisine from across the Adriatic. Standouts on the menu include tender stuffed baked clams, sun-dried tomato ravioli with thyme sauce, and a delicious tiramisu. The charming dining room with its exposed brick walls, French doors, and fireplace complements the rustic cuisine perfectly. An impressive wine list is filled with selections from all over the world and in every price range. Dino also serves as the Maitre D’Hotel at the James Beard Foundation, which is evident in the warm hospitality and excellent service.
ExtraThe brothers, who come from a line of butchers, have converted the space next door into a steakhouse that also serves lobster and other fresh seafood.
