First came leaves traced in the foam atop our macchiatos; now flower petals are bursting forth from our ice-cream cones. That’s the signature style at Amorino, a gelato juggernaut from Italy. Aside from looking pretty, ice cream sculpted into the shape of chrysanthemums has a practical side: Incredibly, the technique allows customers to try up to 22 flavors in a single shot, although that would be kind of crazy. “Ideally you don’t want to order more than four or five,” says a rep for the shop. “Otherwise you will not be able to taste the flavors.”
