High-quality ingredients and creative pairings are the formula at this New York outpost of the longtime Florentine panini shop. Two friends who met during a semester in Florence have brought the original’s best sellers to New York, providing another easy lunch spot for the weekday swarm of midtowners. There are ample options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike, and the panini can be made on Florentine-style white or, in a concession to the more health-conscious, hearty seven-grain bread. There are various "famous" condiments, like rose sauce and olive spread, and variations like a very good spicy salami with sun-dried tomatoes, Brie, and pesto (famous, of course.) The lunch rush is busy and the six seats fill up fast, but that won’t stop you from coming back for the soft, chewy bread and familiar, fresh flavors.
