Profile

No longer exclusive to the West Village scene, Belgian food and its signature triple-fermented beer have arrived in Lenox Hill. This narrow, miniscule space features a polished wooden bar up front; a handful of tables are set against exposed-brick walls at the back, for a semi-rustic feel. Suds savorers might blanch at only five options on draught, but B. Café offers an impressive selection of bottled brews, as well as obscure spirits, like genever, as liquid counterpoint to the hearty, stick-to-your-ribs Belgian fare. Options run from the requisite moules frites prepared six ways to Hoegaarden and garlic to red curry and coconut to richer fare, like a sticky and dense beef stew christened "Duvel carbonnade" for its dark-beer braise. And B. Café may have one of the best burgers uptown. Oozing with juice, the oversized patty features a secret blend of spices, a thick slice of Gruyère, and a heap of sautéed mushrooms, all sandwiched in a crusty, grill-toasted bun.

Outdoor Seating

An intimate garden is open during the warmer months.

I had always walked by the place on my way home and figured I had to try it. Its a nicely set up place. They do a great job with the decor given the very tight quarters (if it wasn't for my girlfriend as my lookout, I would have ended up elbowing every waiter in the crotch every time they walked by me). I had the Mussels Provencale and they were outstanding. It was the largest amount of mussels I've ever been served and they were all delicious. My girlfriend ordered the steak frites and it was also veyr good. A large steak with an excellent sauce and perfect pommes frites. the frites came with three different sauces (ketchup, mayo, and a chipotle mayo that was spicy and tasty). the beer menu varies but always offers an excellent selection. You are better off going early, as the place seemed to fill up very quickly.
