The lowdown
In July of 2014, Gabriel Stulman opened Bar Sardine on West 10th Street — the former home of Chez Sardine. As part of this restaurant redo, Stulman ditched the Japanese concept in favor of a classic, all-American bar. Chef Raj Abat’s menu includes a nice mix of hearty and healthy foods: Crispy Boudin, deep-fried pork sausage with a jalapeño remoulade, beef tartare on a tostada with crema and enchilada vinaigrette, and notably, a $17 Fedora burger with smoked cheddar and barbecue mayo that’s been available since day one. On warm nights, the big windows open to the street, making this one of the better places in New York to grab a glass of wine.
