Profile
An actual Bedouin tent is known for its owners' hospitality, and the same goes for this simple family-run establishment whose dim, casual dining area resembles the real thing complete with drapes of canvas-like fabric. The welcome here is warm, and so is the bread—airy, fresh-baked pita comes straight from the oven to your table, whether on its own or as the foundation of the savory specialty, personal-sized “pitza”. Toppings such as lamb and leeks complement the flavorful dough and make their version a formidable, snacking rival to the good-old NYC standard. The traditional sandwiches are chock-full of fillings like falafel and lamb merguez and the oft-ignored Middle Eastern menu item, the spinach-cheese pie, is actually delightful and fresh. Grab a cool plate of one of their salads—like satisfactory hummus and babaghanouj or the almost sweet lentil and bulghur mix—and find additional warmth from the sun in the back garden.
