Profile

It’s a familiar tale: Despairing of finding a vegan restaurant to satisfy their culinary and aesthetic requirements, erstwhile actors Ronen Seri and his wife, Pamela, decided to open their own. Though it no longer operates as a juice bar–café during the day, this candlelit restaurant is equipped with a fireplace, a private dining room upstairs, and organic wines and beer. The meatless menu spans the globe with dishes like pumpkin gnocchi with wild mushrooms, South Asian lumpia with curried seitan, and a southern-fried-tofu-and-tempeh-bacon BLT.

Late '90s cliche.......

Since I dine solo a lot, how I'm treated as a "table for one" is the real test of a restaurant for me. Blossom failed miserably. Quickly: I was ignored at the door after a couple ahead of me was cheerfully greeted and seated; though the restaurant was 3/4 empty, I was told there were no tables; an obnoxious greeter thought it would be more interesting to check his texts than answer a couple of questions. I used to encounter a lot of this in the late '90s; Blossom, unfortunately, still feels like that kind of cliche.

One of the best vegan fine-dining establishments in NYC

Blossom is on their game. Unique dishes and exquisite preparation make for mouth-watering, succulent vegan fare, the likes of which is scarcely found in this city. Try the Port Wine Seitan for a gastronomic bliss-gasm of tender, saucy seitan that falls apart in your mouth the way an expertly-prepared steak would. Squisito!
