Profile

This venue is closed.

At the edge of the Columbia Street Waterfront District (that’s Red Hook according to realtors), hipsters rub elbows with shipyard workers and Bluestone Bar and Grill tries to bridge the gap. It retains the feel of a local Irish bar but appeals to neighborhood foodies with organic steaks ($14) or lobster ravioli ($16). They also offer traditional pub grub and you can find families as well as singles snacking on Newcastle Fish and Chips ($7) or Potato Skins with English bacon ($6). But Bluestone struggles a bit with its identity when it comes to the motif. It’s decorated like an 80’s hotel lobby with ocean-themed wavy booths and sponge-painted ocher walls, and yet a vintage Lambretta motorcycle is parked next to the pool table. One thing is certain: the views of lower Manhattan are stunning, and you enjoy them along with a flick on Friday nights when Bluestone screens movies on their outdoor deck. —Lisa Selin Davis

Recommended Dishes
