A paean to two Buenos Aires institutions—soccer team Boca Juniors and steak—this Elmhurst restaurant takes its sports motif seriously. Blue and yellow aren’t just reserved for the waiters’ track suits; the color scheme also shows up on plates, napkins, walls, and helium balloons that hug the ceiling. As is the case in Argentina, grilled meat is the main event—but not to be overlooked are the flaky, deep-fried empanadas. Shredded chicken, moist and interspersed with chopped hardboiled eggs and olives, also impresses. Unless your heart is set a specific cut of meat, the parrillada, available for one, two, or more diners, offers the most variety. The sizzling tray showcases the entire animal: Chewy ribs and skirt steak, crumbly pork sausage, almost-black blood sausage, tender sweetbreads, and crispy intestines. Spoonfuls of vinegary chimichurri, thick with parsley, enliven the carnivorous spread. Don’t be surprised if the staff begins marching around the room twirling umbrellas (blue and yellow, of course) to Boca Juniors fight songs. Even if you don’t know the words, you’re welcome to put down your glass of Malbec and clap along.
