Profile

Though the staff seems a bit spacey, the kitchen at this Vietnamese restaurant shines with elegant layering of flavors and the tingling of tomato or lime perking up everything from grilled eggplant to the sensational Buddhist sweet-and-sour soup. But portions seem small and prices high compared with the budget-friendly competition. True, Boi has pastry wizard Bill Yosses' recipes. Taste his tamarind cake with red papaya or the jackfruit toffee pudding with homemade vanilla ice cream.

Can not rate the service - we ordered from our hotel for delivery. I wish we were in the restaurant because we would have sent it back . . . we ended up having to throw everything out but the soup. DO NOT order the RICE ROLES!!!!

A nice surprise

We stumbled across Boi as we walked the streets looking for lunch, and we were incredibly impressed. We eat a lot of Vietnamese food, and this was among the best we've ever tasted. It was creative and tasty, even given the high prices. We recommend the Buddhist sweet and sour soup, especially on a cold winter day, and the cha gio appetizer, which is a roll filled with crab and other tasty ingredients.
