Kenny Seles and Frank Libreta opened their first pizzeria, Pizza King, in Brooklyn in 1985, courting customers with a brick oven, some family recipes, and plenty of fresh toppings. And though the original spot has since closed, the pair’s subsequent chain has grown to include five Manhattan locations, all offering a slightly-charred, thin-crust pie with marinara sauce and basil--alongside a host of heroes, pastas, and calzones. Bravo Pizza also makes so-called Chicago-style pizzas, but those anticipating big-shouldered, thick and gooey deep-dish wonders may be disappointed by this light, fluffy version. As to décor, the walls are lined with celeb photos. Few patrons linger. A brisk lunchtime business combined with limited seating make delivery the more viable option.
