Bricolage, a term for fixing things up and turning them into something new (a.k.a. DIY), is an apt moniker for this Park Slope gastropub with Vietnamese roots. The front of the restaurant features a dimly lit industrial bar area. Further inside is a homey and relaxed dining room with reclaimed decorative items on the walls, mismatched chairs and lighting, and an open kitchen where steaming woks and grill tops are signs of good things to come. The atmosphere is grown-up but relaxed, with food to match. The menu features Vietnamese classics like summer rolls, crêpes, noodles, and grilled beef all made new and more theatrical. The Beef La Lot summer rolls are not to be missed; they arrive as separate elements grilled beef, vermicelli, cucumber, pickled carrots and daikon that you wrap in rice papers at the table. And the Unshaking Beef is a twist on the classic consisting of sliced grilled steak served alongside a fresh watercress salad, charred pearl onions, white rice, and lime dressing.
