Profile

The kitchen at Bubby's has become more sophisticated the past few years, but what this place still does best is simple food. Each order is accompanied by the restaurant's signature buttermilk biscuits—they're fluffy and completely satisfying all by themselves. You can't beat the salads, from arugula-and-Parmesan with roasted pears to roasted beet. The carrot-ginger soup is velvety, with sweet, fresh carrot sharpened by sautéed ginger. The home-baked pies and cakes are always great, and no wonder—Bubby's started in 1990 as a pie company.

Note

Reservations are not accepted at brunch, so be prepared to wait.

overpriced and loud

Sadly, this place has become very over-priced for what you get. There is not even free coffee of you get a $20 egg "brunch" dish. In addition it is amazingly loud even when the place is only 1/3 filled. You have to yell at your friends across the din of the bad music and echoing acoustics. Also, the service was rushed and spotty and we had to get our own water. Would no longer recommend.

Enough already with people and their kids flocking here

When I first moved downtown to Tribeca a few years ago, I thought - great, here's my breakfast spot. Not so much anymore. Bubby's is no longer reasonable or well-priced for what it is - a cozy, homey diner with decent comfort food. And the people and their kids (I have one myself) all seem to flock here like there's a dearth of cafes or restaurants with decent comfort food in Tribeca. Sorry, it is not worth waiting.
