There’s nothing revolutionary about the Bus Stop Cafe’s approach to diner fare; to the contrary, its very reliability makes it a long-standing West Village favorite. Solid takes on classic dishes arrive tableside in assured presentations, and the café’s relaxed atmosphere encourages drawn-out meals, especially when warmer weather facilitates outdoor seating. Tall casement windows, wooden furnishings, and warm, natural tones lend the interior a homey air. Panini and spanakopita dot the wide-ranging standard American menu, but home-style entrées like the tender broiled spring chicken and sliced meat loaf are most successful. The wine list’s short; the dessert options, familiar.
Recommended DishesBroiled spring chicken, $15.50
