Owner Lika Ramati's penchant for bright colors and sexy fabrics is obvious at Café Lika. An interior designer as well as a restaurateur, Ramati, who also owns Simone and Yaffa Café in the East Village, has dressed the spacious dining room in a bold bordello fashion—leopard-print booths, beaded curtains, lots of scarlet and turquoise accents—and festooned its walls with her own vibrant artworks. The menu is not quite so flashy: Chef Kevin Chan sticks to fairly predictable café fare, including burgers served with a mountain of skinny fries, a handful of amply portioned salads, several pasta dishes, and entrees like rack of lamb, grilled salmon and schnitzel. The brunch menu features standards such as eggs Florentine and French toast. All dishes are well executed and very reasonably priced (as is the wine list) and served by an amenable staff. At the back of the eatery, you'll find one of the loveliest restaurant gardens in the city, complete with fountain and greenery, and on a good day, plenty ofKirsten Matthew trendy young Lower East Side habitués soaking up some sun.
