Candela’s abundant seating, moderate prices and something-for-everyone “modern American” menu make it a good last-minute date choice. And then there are, of course, the candles—loads of them, some suspended on iron chandeliers. Try getting a spot up front if you’d prefer a cozier feel; the cavernous, darker back room can get noisy. Menu basics like rib-eye steak are complemented by a number of Asian-accented dishes and a small sushi menu. And if you don’t mind eating on an octogenarian’s schedule, the pre-theater dinner is a good deal. — Christina Nunez

this place is a restaurant which thinks it's nice, but really, it is not at all that nice.
this place is for people who don't know the difference between a nice restaurant and a so-so restaurant.
I went there the other night and was pretty disappointed. The chairs were rickety, almost broken chairs and the place is very loud. Loud music and just loud overall.
At first we were seated right next to the bathroom, literally we would have people brushing against our shoulders as they went to use the restroom, and there was a bright light from the bathroom area shining all over us. We complained, and actually the manager was very good about moving our seat to a better corner table.
The menu was boring, but the plain boring dishes we did order weren't bad, Just slightly overpriced.
The room is dark and cavernous, not, in my opinion, romantic at all.
It was irritating.
I would not go back there, nor would I recommend it, especially when there are numerous other restaurants to go to in this city which are much nicer for the money.
The food is quite good as I was able to order from an eclectic menu. The encrusted rack of lamb was almost worth the $32. This place is good for a large group who doesnt want to hear what the people at the other end of the table are saying. The music was horrible and made me uncomfortable. This place gets a 10 on the cheese factor. Candela has potential, but they need to work on the music and tone down the ambiance. The candels are nice, but the place is too wide open for this to be your choice for a romantic dinner.
