Profile

Set in a cozy townhouse on a quiet corner of the Upper East Side, Casimir & Co offers authentic French cuisine, an approachable wine list, and waiters in suspenders and bow ties. In the dining room upstairs, brick walls and white tablecloths set a calm, casual atmosphere, while a simple wooden bar and two high-top tables sit on the ground floor. During warmer months, sidewalk seating is available just outside on quiet East 73rd Street. The kitchen turns out dishes like escargot prepared in a roasted garlic butter: hearty and flavorful with a sauce perfect for dipping hunks of freshly baked bread. A lighter salmon carpaccio with lemon oil and fresh dill is a good way to start your meal, too. Larger plates like the l’entrecote Casimir & Co — the restaurant’s signature grass-fed New York strip steak with French fries — and steamed Prince Edward Island mussels are uncomplicated, straightforward, and filling. Hearts of palm fettuccini artfully substitutes carb-heavy pasta for strips of the fresh veggie, and can be served either in a tomato basil sauce or creamy carbonara. Friendly waitstaff are on hand to suggest a bottle of wine at any price range to pair perfectly with your meal.
