Profile

Even though it carries a high risk of poor service and unpleasant encounters with attitudinal (but often pretty) people, The Coffee Shop sometimes seems unavoidable. When it comes to the Union Square area, this loungey pseudo-diner’s varied, inexpensive menu and sidewalk seating make it one of the best casual options in the neighborhood. There’s hardly ever a seat at the bar, which serves up surprisingly good drinks (including milkshakes and mojitos); and there’s usually a wait for a table at peak times, so plan to hang out on the corner of 16th and Union Square for a bit if you go.

For Kids

Youngsters will love the crayons and place mats with puzzles.

I used to go there all the time... and if any reader can remind or inform me as to the last name of a beautiful korean waitress named "Katherine"; I would be grateful:) She worked there '92-94... long silky hair and very nice person. anyway, i was just remembering my trips there... met one of my girlfriends there... over all it's a chic place, food is ok, and yes, beautiful people serve food. what's not to like wrapped up in a convenient location? you could do worse...

Their service is disgusting, starting by the futile crew of waitresses. Who the hell do they think they are?! Why is this place described as 'kid-friendly' if their slow staff look at your kids with annoyance? The food is not impressive, and it might arrive to your table already cold. They also took 20 min to bring 3 scoops of ice cream in the end. How useless those employees can be?! Don't bring your kids, they'll be upset. Don't bring another people, they'll be annoyed and you'll be embarrassed. Go to Casa if you are looking for Brazilian food.
